Legal Consultation Options

We understand that sometimes you just need to talk to a lawyer. Because of this, Cordero Law makes it easy to get the help you need by offering three different types of consultations.

15 Minute Phone Consultation

You would be surprised what you can accomplish in 15 minutes! During our 15-minute phone consultation, we will answer your questions and suggest future steps (if necessary) for your legal issue.

Examples of Questions/Issues

  • Should I choose an LLC or an S Corp for my business?
  • What type of contract do I need?
  • What type of intellectual property should I worry about for my business?
  • Does it make sense to apply for a trademark early?
  • How can I protect my rights?
  • What are the benefits of copyrighting my music?
  • Should I start a loan out company?

30 Minute Phone Consultation

If your situation is a little bit more complicated, a 15-minute phone conversation may not be enough. For people with more complex legal situations - we offer a longer 30-minute phone consultation. This option is also really great for people that - may not have a complex issue - but really want us to go in-depth (think of follow up questions).

One Hour In-Person Strategy Session

While we can certainly handle consultations remotely, sometimes you just need to meet up to really go over something. This option is great for people that are just starting out in either the business or entertainment world.

Example of Issues

  • I want to start a new business and am not really sure what steps to take.
  • How do I start a record label?
  • How do I purchase an already existing business? What should I be worried about?
  • I just started to put out music, what should I do in order to make sure I am protected?
  • How can I make the most out of my intellectual property portfolio?

Why don't you offer free consultations?

In the past, we offered free consultations. However, we realized that free consultations didn't give our callers enough of what they actually needed. With a free consultation, a law firm will typically go over the types of help the lawyer can offer the potential new client should he or she decide to hire the law firm. These free consultations typically do not provide any legal help or legal advice. The way we see it - by only offering paid consultations, we can better provide for the needs of the people seeking our help by actually giving the legal help or advice we were contacted for in the first place.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of questions can I ask?

Ask us anything related to your legal issue.

Will I be getting legal advice?

Yes. As you are purchasing a consultation, that entitles you to receive legal advice on your particular legal matter.

Can you review my contract during The Consultation?

If you have specific questions on what some terms in your contract mean or how certain things apply - we can go over these types of questions! However, we cannot review an entire contract during a consultation. If you want us to review an entire contract, please read about the types of contract review we offer by going to our flat rate contract review info page.

What if I am not sure if I need a consultation?

Email us by visiting our contact page with a brief description of what is going on. We can let you know based on this information if you would benefit from a consultation or not. We can also recommend an alternative if a consultation is not exactly what you need.

What if the lawyer cannot answer my question?

We are not perfect - all the time. Sometimes, you may stump us with a question that we cannot answer. If we do not think we can be of help, we will refund your money as you are not getting what you paid for. However, if we reasonably think we can get you the answer you are looking for, we may offer to get back to you once we do a little bit of research. This will be done at no extra charge.

Do you offer refunds?

Unless we cannot help you (see above), we do not offer any refunds for our consultations.

What if I miss my appointment?

Because all of our consultations are pre-booked, if you miss an appointment (or are late for an appointment) we cannot reschedule you (or extend your time slot) without you re-scheduling a new session (at cost). While we sometimes, depending on the situation, be able to accommodate, this policy is in place in order to be fair to all of our clients and lawyers.

What if I need to reschedule my appointment?

Contact us within 48 hours of your appointment time and we will gladly reschedule your appointment at no extra cost.

What happens when the call is over?

You can decide if you want to continue working with us or not. There is no obligation beyond the consultation.
